As I said above, it is almost unbelievable the lifestyle that a retired American Man can have here in the Philippines. It is just beyond the imagination of most people that Gals as Sweet and Beautiful as those in the above photos would even look at a man above 50 years old, Right! But, I can tell you honestly that that is NOT the case with Filipino Gals! The Gals want to meet and be with American Guys of all ages!!!

The Philippines teaches English in its Schools so most ALL of the Gals speak decent English. The best part is that the Gals have not been changed by Western Society and they respect, and even cater to their Mate. You will have to experience this for yourself before you can appreciate what this really means.

Here's some additional information:

A few other examples of how far your Retirement Check will go here would be that Cigarettes are ONLY $5.00 per carton, and Beer is cheaper than Water! A 30 minute Taxi Ride is around $2.00. If you want to take a short ride you will ride in a Jeepney, a Tricycle, or a Tricicad.

The average cost for a Jeepney Ride is only 10 cents, for a Tricycle Ride you will pay about 12 cents, and for a Tricicad Ride it will run you about 6 cents. Needless to say Transportation here in the Philippines is Super CHEAP! If You need to travel to another city on the same Island you will take a Bus and the cost for an Air Conditioned Bus Ride is around $4.00!
YOU REALLY DON'T NEED A CAR IN THE PHILIPPINES!

The Major means of Transportation from one Island to another are the Ferry Boats. Most Guys that Live here enjoy traveling to other Islands ( There are over 7,000 Islands that make up the Philippine Islands ) and there are lots of Islands to Visit for sure! There are several Ferry Boat Companies and the cost for a Ticket depends on the Level of Comfort and the Island You wish to Travel to. I usually travel "Cabin Class" which costs somewhere between $20 - $30 and includes Air Conditioning, Satellite TV, and a Private Bathroom.

I am taking you for a ride from the Mactan Airport to Cebu City. Here you will be driven through the two bridges, the new and old. You will also be taken to parts of Colon St. and through the road leading to Fuente Osmena in Cebu City.

Ferry Boat travel is very common, and there are many outlets that sell Tickets, so getting a ticket is usually NOT a Problem. However, I have run into a problem when making a last minute trip and I had to travel "Tourist Class" which was not a major inconvenience and I actually saved money because Tourist Class was only $10.00 and I still had Air Conditioning. The Ferry Boats are well Equipped, Safe, and have Restaurants and Snack bars onboard and are open 24 hours.

When traveling to the various Islands you will find many Tropical Resorts and Hotels that vary in price according to the comfort level you require. Resorts are at times higher in price according to the season you are traveling.

My experience with Resorts has been very good! For instance I took Wendy to a nice Beach Resort by the name of "Secret Cove" and the room was really nice, and we also took their Snorkeling offer. The three day stay at Secret Cove including the Snorkeling Trip was only $100 which was a SUPER DEAL!

Most Hotels here will cost you from $10.00 to $20.00 a night. However they are also Upscale Hotels such as the Water Front which is Home of the Famous "Casino Filipino" and the Room rate there is around $70 and up per night.

For those of You that Like to Party there are many Night Clubs that are very nice. My Friends and I like to go out on the Town every so often, and we have had some great times. If you would like to hit the Clubs then I can certainly help you in that area. The Clubs feature many Beautiful Dancing Girls ; )

There are a Shopping Malls in the Philippines just as there are in the USA. You can buy almost anything that you would need or want. I even bought Turnip Greens and Cornbread as well as Pineapple Upside Down Cake Mix. I guess you could say that I was a HAPPY South Georgia Boy eating my Turnip Greens and Cornbread...yeee haaaaa!

As far as Health Care goes, there are Major Hospitals as well as Great Doctors in the Philippines as well. I had to take Wendy to a Specialist at one time and the cost was only $8.00 for the (Specialist) Doctor Visit and Only $8.00 for an X-ray at the Hospital. I could hardly believe how cheap it was!!!

Sinulog festival in Cebu City, Philippines. Sinulog is a nine-day fiesta celebration in honor of Sto. Nino. The celebration entails two major activities: the religious procession on a Saturday and the grand street parade the following day.

Here's some brief Information I gathered so you will have some general information on the Philippines.

Did you know that the Philippines was once owned by the United States from 1898 - 1946? The U.S. was a tremendous influence on the Philippines, and created many Public Schools. The Philippines is the ONLY English speaking County in Asia. The U.S. still has a strong interest in the Philippines to this day.

Geography
The Philippines consists of an archipelago of over seven thousand islands in Southeastern Asia, to the south of Taiwan.

Manila, on the island of Luzon, is the capital city. Other main islands include Mindanao and Visayas.

The country is mountainous with coastal lowlands. The longest river is the Cagayan on Luzon.

The climate of the Philippines is tropical with the rainy season between June and October.

Environment
The Philippines has a number of World Heritage sites. These include the Tubbataha Reef Marine Park, a nesting place for birds and marine turtles, and Puerto-Princesa Subterranean River National Park featuring karst landscape and forests.

The two thousand years old Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras are listed on the World Heritage Cultural Properties.

Architecture
Two Cultural Properties on the World Heritage List date back to the Spanish colonization of the Philippines. These are the Baroque Churches of the Philippines built in Manila, Miag-ao, Paoay and Santa Maria and the Historic Town of Vigan, a well preserved colonial town.

Population
The population of the Philippines was estimated at 91,077,287 in 2007.

Languages
Filipino and English are both official languages of the Philippines. Many dialects are also spoken.

Religion
The large majority of the population are Catholic.

Food
Filipino food has been influenced by Spanish and Chinese cuisine.

Rice is the staple food and eaten with most meals. Noodle dishes are also very popular.

Filipino cuisine is unusual as meat (pork and poultry) and seafood may be combined in a single dish. Recipes often use ingredients such as coconut milk, tomatoes, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, tamarind and vinegar.

Desserts include rice cakes, leche flan and sweets dishes made from fresh fruit (guavas, mangoes, papayas and pineapples). Ice cream is used in desserts or eaten on its own.

Fruit juices are available and green lemons are used to make drinks. Beer and rum are produced locally.

On a Personal note:

The idea for this website was born while talking with a few of my Friends at a Birthday Party for Ken at his Home in the Philippines. My friends and I were sitting around talking after the party and we were discussing what a great life we have and how much fun we always have. LIVING IN PARADISE! As Dennis said "He is Living his Dream"! We all agreed there was no other place on earth we would rather be than living our life in this tropical paradise we call home. Ever so often our Girlfriends would come and check on us to see if we needed anything to drink or eat. We all agreed that the Girls were the MAIN reason we loved it here so much, cheap living came in second place ; )

We began to discuss how much better we lived here in the Philippines verses living in the U.S.! We are always so relaxed and have so much fun. The only things we worry about is deciding on which Island we would like to visit on our next trip, or who will have the next cookout. (We all get together once a week and go to the disco, or have a small party that we take turns hosting.)

One of the Guys said...it's too bad that the rest of the Retired Single Guys in the U.S. don't know about the lifestyle we have here, and that YOU would probably never know!
